Easter

A letter from the Easter Bunny (for ages 15,10,10,5)

(front page)
(back page)
There once were four girls on a hunt
Who found pictures of animals (see front)
Nicky the owl and Calli the feline
Julie the winged and Edie the canine
Now they’re off on a clue finding jaunt
Hey Girls!
Easter Bunny here!  Who likes goodies?  I mean, who doesn’t like goodies?  When everyone was sleeping I jimmied the lock and hid presents somewhere in the house.  Where could they be?  I’ll never tell!  But I will give you a clue.
There once was a machine that was new
And its function was making fresh brew
Before the biggin’s clean up
They drink cup after cup
And the single servings hide your next clue
Hope your Easter is the neatest of neat, the swellest of swell and the keenest of keen!
With much love,
E.B.
Clue 2
I simply love the color orange!  I think all colors of the rainbow should be orange.  How great would that be?  You know how sometimes you get in fights about whether something is green or blue, gray or black,  taupe or mauve?  Yeah, it’s lousy I know!  But if everything was orange you’d just say something like “I hid the clue in the orange drawer” and pow! everyone would know exactly what you meant!
Clue 3
The little mouse is hungry
And also she’s well dressed
She nibbles lightly on her cheese
And maybe if you ask her “Please?”
She’ll give to you your clue
Clue 4
Oh me, oh my! Oh my, oh me! Whatever shall you do?
When what goes up shall then come down is not the total truth?
At Birthday time it seemed such fun when nothing was at stake
But hanging by a thread thereon your clue is there to take
Clue 5
I took this clue upon a boat to show it all the sights
The waterfalls the rainbows and small children flying kites
The rain came down, the waves they splashed and oh! we got so wet
A soggy clue would never do
But it felt not right to write it new
Its dampness makes it no less true
I guess I’ll dry it, some clothes too
It seems the safest bet!
Clue 6
The clue is in the green drawer
There’s two I now can see
I put it in the one above the cabinet door not right
That makes the drawer the other one, or so I do now write
The other one, your other left!
It’s simple, can’t you read?
Take it out and heed the script
And see where it will lead!
Clue 7
And now dear children, you near the end of your frenetic hunt
You ran, you jumped and made some noise if I may be so blunt
Beneath the cloth you should now look to see what  you may find
Neatly folded, basketed and placed aside the wine
Your goodies rest beneath this cloth upon which we all dine
